For millennia, people have gathered around fires for both practical and recreational purposes. Native Americans used fire ceremonies to celebrate, pray, and give thanks. Pioneers cooked over them during their long treks across the country. Cowboys gathered around them after a long day driving cattle, sharing stories while they ate their plates of hardtack and beans.

Still today, we find something peaceful and restorative about settling in by a fire. That’s why fire pit construction has gone from a utilitarian endeavor to an art form. A modern outdoor fire pit is the epitome of outdoor life and often the focal point of many Mountain landscaping projects.
